IMPORTANCE AND BENEFITS OF BREAST MILK
Breast milk is a physiological food that meets all the needs of the newborn baby for six months. Every mother's milk is unique to her baby. For ages, people have recognized that breast milk is a unique food for infant nutrition. It is only possible to deliver breast milk to babies in the healthiest way by breastfeeding.
Breast milk and infant nutrition affect not only child health, but also maternal and community health. It is known that breast milk protects the baby from many diseases (pneumonia, otitis media, diarrhea, gastrointestinal tract infections, meningitis, measles, etc.). It has also been reported that breast milk strengthens the immune system and reduces the incidence of allergic reactions such as eczema, asthma, necrotizing, enterocolitis, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and some cancers such as crohn's, childhood lymphoma.
In order to draw attention to the importance of breast milk in our hospital and to raise awareness, brochures explaining the importance of breast milk and breastfeeding were distributed to our patients and information was provided.
